New owner Bishop Auckland S1 k20

Postby JeffC » Tue 17 Apr, 2018 5:21 pm

Hi just been directed here from Piston heads so thought would introduce myself.

48 year old car nut from Bishop Auckland, I have had a wide range of cars over the years and after being bored by the last 10 modern cars I have owned I wanted something a little more raw, I had Caterhams for 12 years but swmbo didn't want me to get another so after thinking long and hard decided on an S1 Else with the intent to do a K20 swap and was told about this car coming up for sale by Dan at BSCS, last owner had owned it 18 years covered only 40k and he then got Maidstone to do a k20 conversion 4 years/2,500 miles ago as a retirement present to himself, I hummed and harred at the asking price but since I last looked at S1s a few years ago a standard low mileage car was now pretty much double what I expected so it made financial sense to buy this car and save myself the hassle of doing the conversion or so I thought !

I have changed one or two things since I got it, the biggest being the engine as after less than 100 miles from buying it the Crank started knocking ! I fitted an uprated engine with bigger cams and changed the manifold to RBC and changed the intake system resulting in it Dyno-ing at 262bhp. I have also since fitted Rota alloys with R888R track tyres and changed a couple of the cosmetics.

Not sure I will do a lot more to it, I did think about supercharging it but after a couple of spirited runs out I don't think it needs any more power for the road, its quite entertaining as it is.

Anyway Its all back together now and waiting for this heatwave that was promised !

cheers and hope to meet up with others at some point.

This is it the day I bought it with my other cars.

The road Crx doesn't get out a lot not sure it did a couple hunderd miles last year, to be fair none of them got used much last year as I took on a property project but hopefully they will be used this year.
