website domains

Post by SCTony » Sat 14 Apr, 2018 1:54 am

After some advice and guidance please...

I want to set up a small, simple, website for a holiday cottage, who's the best to go through? 1and1 maybe?

I don't mind paying a nominal yearly subscription but want to be able to keep it for as long as I want really.

It would be nice to have a corresponding email address but it looks like that hikes the price right up!

TIA

Normally you’ll pay for the domain for a set time, longer it is the cheaper - 10 years I think is longest.

You can get this from anyone though.

Do you need a dedicated email address? What’s the benefit if it’s on the webpage then people can click through , or simply a contact us type page

Have you looked into the free faceache business pages that all sorts of people setup.

Also you can do a free hosting on google drive. Then you ‘could’ do that there and simply point your bought domain (tonysspitfires.co.uk for example) to the free google pages?

Other hosting sites I’m aware of are godaddy, 123reg.

Good info there, cheers.. I like the contact us bit rather than a dedicated address
