Hartside gravel rash

Post by Mac » Thu 06 Jul, 2017 9:41 pm

Sections f the Hartside Road between Alston and Melmerby and a section on Alston heading to Whitfield have just been 'dressed' with gravel today. They don't seem to have done any repairs and just spread grit, to some purpose that's beyond me, other than to ruin one of my favourite drives. Best avoided for a while I think.

true.. especially on a bike - its a scottish thing as well... its cheap to spraty tar and dump gravel and let the vehicles stamp it into the top. However.... once its done and the gravel has gone it makes the road super grippy - which of course gives amazing grip, but fair wears your tyres...
