S2 K Series Service time

Post by marcfair » Thu 02 Mar, 2017 11:18 am

Its Service and MOT time for my S2 and I'm wanting to keep the full Lotus history, so in a quandary as to where to take it now after F1 Newcastle has now gone. I'm looking at Durham or Carlisle I guess but I'm looking for any recent recommendations / experiences, especially with the older models as mine is a K series.

I took my 2010 Evora to Stoneacre in Durham 2 weeks ago for its annual service. The lotus mechanic seemed very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the brand and the Service Manager (Sophie) couldn't have been more helpful. Standard service prices were also very competitive (for the Evora anyway).

I did get a Stoneacre stamp in the service book rather than a nice Lotus one if your precious about such things, but its a franchised Lotus dealership and the invoice has the Lotus header on it.

Mine has to go back in a few weeks time to have the door latch replaced (currently waiting for the part from Lotus), but I have no concerns about taking it back to them.

Their new/used Lotus car sales team on the other hand were appalling, no sign of the Lotus salesman the whole time I was there (3 hours) and no one asked me if I wanted any help whilst I was milling around the cars.

They obviously don't need to sell many new cars! :?

Glen.

If you are dead set on a Lotus dealer then I would recommend Carlisle. At least they'll still be here this time next year.

I read that thread before I went but decided to give them a try anyway and I'm glad I did as the service was excellent. Will let you know how I get on with the door fix when (and if) the part ever arrives from Lotus.

For a basic service and MoT I can't see there being any problem.

Its nearly service time again, I've used both Stoneacre and David Hayton over this last year, Stoneacre for fitting a starter motor which I supplied and David Hayton's for the servicing, Both Ok. I'll probably go to David hayton again this year for the service. At least I can look at the new Lotus stock while it's getting sorted. :D

Anybody else got any feedback from experiences last year
